About the Author

Meet Douglas Funke
Douglas Funke is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) with over 30 years of experience working as a human factors engineer. He has an MS in Industrial Engineering (with a concentration in Human Factors and Ergonomics). Throughout his career as a principal human factors engineer at a several research and development companies, he has worked to make systems and technology understandable, and to communicate technical information clearly. He has written scores of technical reports and articles on topics ranging from automated highways to the application of human learning principles within complex training systems. He has developed learning materials designed for self-paced, self-directed learning in technology areas ranging from the operation and maintenance of networked computer systems to cyber security. He has published articles in numerous technical magazines, conference proceedings and professional journals. After retiring from the private sector, Doug established a consulting business, Human First Ergonomics LLC, where provided ergonomics consulting services to customers in the Buffalo-Niagara region. He is now focusing his ergonomics work as an author. With a lifelong interest in physics and cosmology, he has now finished this, his first book – a pondering book, ergonomically designed for developing a basic understanding of the technical foundations of Special and General Relativity.
